Chokma!

Aachompa' - “a place to buy,” is a cumulative effort by multiple locations within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Culture and Humanities. The goal of Aachompaˈ is to provide readily available Chickasaw items to the public by allowing customers to make purchases at any time, from the comfort of their home.

Currently, we offer a variety of merchandise including Chickasaw art, handmade jewelry, clothing, books and more from five locations throughout the Chickasaw Nation. Scroll down to learn more about each location. 

Chokma'si Gallery

Arts & Humanities

Located in downtown Ada, Oklahoma, art enthusiasts will find the Chokma'si Gallery, the focal point of the Chickasaw Nation Arts & Humanities building. Design and function meet in the 1,554 sq. ft. gallery with a serpentine detailed ceiling, self-healing sisal walls and directional track lighting adding to the creative environment, while accommodating diverse art exhibits. The gallery is a destination for tourism, promoting the cultural and artistic expression of First American artists.

The gallery features rotating art exhibitions highlighting Chickasaw, Southeastern and other First American tribes.

Chokma’si Gallery is also home to a gift shop filled with First American art, handmade artistic gifts including: jewelry, wood turned pens, pottery, sculpture, photography, original paintings, prints, textiles, official Pendleton products, Mahota Textiles and other custom items.

Chickasaw Press

Literary Arts

The Chickasaw Press, as well as its two imprints, White Dog Press and Leaning Pole Press, publishes books, periodicals and apps about the Chickasaw people and our rich history, culture and language. Publications cover a wide range of genres including fiction, nonfiction, historical accounts, biographies, Chickasaw language workbooks and dictionaries, novels, poetry, cookbooks and art and photography books. Unsolicited manuscript submissions are accepted. The Chickasaw Press bookstore also carries an assortment of gift items and souvenirs, including apparel and Chickasaw Nation films.

Aachompa' Gift Shop

Chickasaw Cultural Center

Located adjacent to the Welcome Center on the Chickasaw Cultural Center campus, the Aachompa' (a place to buy) Gift Shop showcases Chickasaw art, jewelry, pottery, traditional bows, baskets and clothing. You will also find beadwork and an array of other unique handmade items. The Aachompa' Gift Shop also sells Pendleton blankets.

Chickasaw Council House Museum

Heritage Preservation

Located on the Chickasaw Capitol grounds in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, the Chickasaw Council House Museum preserves and displays the original 1855 log cabin that was the first known Chickasaw council house built in Indian Territory, and where the 1856 Chickasaw Constitution was signed. The museum also displays artifacts tracing the history and culture of the Chickasaw people and contemporary Chickasaw artwork.

The museum gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs, books, music, and Chickasaw language materials, as well as pottery, jewelry, beadwork and other artwork by Chickasaw artists.

Fort Washita

Heritage Preservation

Fort Washita was built in 1842 and served as a former United States military post. The mission of Fort Washita was to maintain peace for the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes in their new territory. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Fort Washita has become a popular point of interest for visitors and tour groups of all sizes to journey into the past through informational exhibits, Civil War reenactments, storytelling and more.
